Learning through
looking and making.
I instructed iconography workshops over the summer for the middle school and early high school aged girls in my church. I taught them the basics of iconography, including: origin, purpose, worship vs. veneration, women in iconography (creating and being depicted), as well as what visually makes up an icon. We also practiced creating icon style artworks based on our patron saints.
